The research is part of the Minas project, which was conducted between June 2014 and December 2015 in four European countries: Slovenia, Austria, France and Great Britain. The key objective of the project was to find and propose safeguards and solutions related to procedures for unaccompanied minor migrants (UAM). As part of the project they analyzed the reception, protection, procedures for obtaining asylum and the return of unaccompanied minors regarding the two key concepts: 1. The Best Interests of the Child (BIC) and 2. Formal Best Interest Determination (BID) procedures. The presented part of the Slovenian research, which data we distribute in the ADP, deals with the issue of determining the greatest benefit of the child and its implementation in practice. The research is based on qualitative interviews with unaccompanied minor migrants and former unaccompanied minor migrants in Slovenia, as well as with representatives of organizations (governmental and non-governmental) that work in the field of rights and social assistance of unaccompanied minor migrants and asylum seekers in Slovenia.
