The study on students’ feelings of safety at faculties and their perceptions of security-related phenomena at faculties and places of study is based on a sample of students from the University of Maribor. It was conducted between June and August 2025 as an online survey, in which 564 male and female students from all faculties of the University of Maribor participated. A modified questionnaire was used for the online survey, based on previously tested questionnaires applied in studies on victimisation, fear of crime, and perceptions of security problems. The aim of the research is to examine feelings of safety among different groups of students, as well as the relationship between the perception of security phenomena at the faculty and relationships within the faculty (issues of deviant behaviour at the faculty), safety in the place of study (issues of deviant behaviour in the place of study), safety in student dormitories (issues of deviant behaviour in student dormitories), past victimisation, and the consequences of potential victimisation. The study was conducted within the framework of the programme group “Safety in Local Communities – A Comparison of Rural and Urban Environments” (P5-0397).
