The study is part of the ERC project DEAGENCY (No. 101095729), which examines the role and agency of the dead in the lives of individuals across different social, cultural, and political contexts of post-socialist societies. The research was conducted in central Slovakia, in the Horehronie region, where researchers explored changing family and community relationships, as well as the role of the dead in individuals’ everyday lives. Data were collected using ethnographic methods, primarily through in-depth semi-structured interviews and participant observation. A total of 62 interviews were conducted with members of local rural communities. Transcripts of selected interviews are available through ADP.
