This qualitative study is based on 18 in-depth interviews with journalists and editors of public Television Slovenia and commercial POP TV conducted during the official epidemic of Covid-19 in Slovenia. The goal of the study is to explore the social role of journalism during the epidemic through the three limiting factors of journalistic work: (1) epidemiological situation and health measures, (2) political measures and narrowing the right to communicate, (3) financial viability of media and reducing labour costs in the changing economic environment. The study is part of the research programme of ARRS Mass media, the public sphere and social changes.
