Workshop: SEEDS – South-Eastern European Data Services

Start: Feb. 9, 2016
End: Feb. 11, 2016
Place: Ljubljana
Organizer: ADP - Arhiv družboslovnih podatkov
The SEEDS project (South-Eastern European Data Services) aims to address the need for new data services in countries where no such infrastructure yet exists. Its primary goal will be to put selected partner research institutions on track to serve as national data services, serving their countries’ research communities by hosting and disseminating large bodies of social science data for secondary analysis.

The workshop, which takes place in Ljubljana, will cover data solicitation and curation of both quantitative and qualitative data. Participants will be expected to arrive with real datasets that will be processed, cleaned, and documented through hands-on training using tools of the trade. There will be presentation and discussion of best practices and standards regarding data preparation and documentation, including the international metadata standard DDI (Data Documentation Initiative).
