The research examines the aspects and practices of non-standard employment of media workers in two Slovenian media and newspaper houses. By combining a sociological and political economic approach in the study of journalism, it focuses on tensions in work relations in the media, where it specifically tackles two problems: the process and consequences of employment standardization, and the effects of the decline of the newspaper industry on the organization of employment. The research is based on qualitative interviews with media workers at the public radio-television Slovenia (RTV) and the newspaper Dnevnik. It was conducted within the basic reaserch project The segmentation of non-standard employment in Slovenia (J5-9335) and research programme Mass media, the public sphere and social changes (P5-0051).
