Aim of the study is to explore factors associated with protection motivation of users on social networking sites. The objective of this study was to determine how psychological ownership, privacy concerns, information sensitivity, descriptive norm, perceived regulation, surveillance concerns, perceived vulnerability, perceived severity, and perceived threats affect protection motivation and secure behavior of users on social networking sites. The study employed a cross-sectional research design. The survey was conducted among members of 15 groups of Slovenian-speaking users of the social network Facebook, between June and November 2018, using web application 1ka. The survey was completed by 308 respondents. The data file is available in Slovenian and English.
