A study of media ownership in the Slovenian media landscape examines the transformation of ownership connections over time using a newly constructed database and network analysis of ownership ties. The transformation of the Slovenian media field is analysed at four selected time points between 2000 and 2022, with particular emphasis on strategies of horizontal and vertical integration among media groups and their impact on public communication processes in the attention economy. The study examines media concentration across three sectors print, television, radio, and online media in Slovenia, where media outlets with an audience reach exceeding 3% in 2010 and 2020 were included. In the final stage, the complete ownership structures of individual groups for the year 2022 were examined. For three media groups (United Group, Media24, and Nova24), a detailed analysis of the entire ownership structure of all media outlets and all owners within each group was carried out.
As part of the study, two datasets were produced and are available through the ADP for secondary use: one contains data on the ownership of Slovenian media in three selected sectors, and the other contains data on the ownership of three selected Slovenian media groups.
