  • An introduction to Cloud Computing: definitions, main players, GDPR considerations, benefits to CESSDA.
  • Brief overview of Google Cloud Platform: obtaining access, the GCP dashboard, main features, pricing model.
  • Structure of CESSDA Technical Infrastructure within GCP: development, staging and production environments,containers and clusters, management and monitoring.

Overview of how to design, build, test and deploy a CESSDA tool:

  • Learn about the standards employed by CESSDA, its technical architecture, and the maturity levels for software within CESSDA.
  • Use the CESSDA Software Maturity Levels form to familiarise themselves with the CESSDA compliance criteria.
  • Develop an example tool that will conform to and run on the technical infrastructure, making use of a Bitbucket code repository and Jenkins Continuous Integration server provided by CESSDA to implement and deploy the tool.
  • Employ further automation and quality checking techniques, such as the automation of build and unit testing to provide a fail-fast environment for CESSDA development (part 1).
