The study provides comprehensive research on self-legitimacy in the prison environment, based on a representative national sample of prison workers in Slovenia. The findings focus on the self-legitimacy of prison workers, professional competencies, and relationships within the prison environment, significantly enhancing existing knowledge on legitimacy in prisons. The research was conducted in all Slovenian prisons: Celje, Dob, Ig, Koper, Ljubljana and Maribor, departments at Ig, Murska Sobota, Nova Gorica, Novo mesto, Puščava, Rogoza, Slovenska vas and the correctional home Radeče. The survey, using a self-administered questionnaire, was conducted in June 2022. A pre-tested instrument for measuring self-legitimacy in the prison environment was used. A total of 322 prison workers participated in the study. The data are comparable to those from the study conducted in 2016 (https://doi.org/10.17898/ADP_LEGIT16_V1).
