Meet ADP

ADP are the central Social Science Data Archives in Slovenia. Our main task is to preserve data from already concluded studies, so that they can be used for secondary analysis. These data are intended mostly for education and scientific research. The main advantage of ADP is that it stores data from all kinds of studies at one place, where users may find and order the required materials.

As part of our activity we acquire raw data, from already concluded studies that may be interesting for further analysis. The depositors are mostly academic institutions as well as public and private institutions which gather data themselves. First we ask the authors of original studies to deposit their data in ADP. All material is described in an electronic codebook, where details needed for understanding the contents of the material and its use are documented. The descriptions are filed in a catalogue, which users may use via the Internet. In addition, a more detailed search of codebooks is enabled by NESSTAR, a special tool for viewing the contents of codebooks. NESSTAR makes it possible to tabulate and visualise data quickly and easily when the database is accessible. Upon written request, we pass the data on to the users.

If necessary, ADP contact potential depositors and helps acquire data from studies, which are not stored in our archives. We cooperate with institutions, which supplement our activity and provide data and services available from different scientific and geographic areas than those covered by ADP. Based on a special agreement, domestic users may access data in European archives, members of the CESSDA, through ADP.

We also provide expertise and advice in the field of methodology and statistics as well as perform statistical analysis on request.

We can help you…

  • Do you want more details regarding ADP activities?
  • Do you have data you would like to deposit in ADP, but aren't sure if they are suitable?
  • Are you interested in a certain subject, but cannot find the right data?

    ESS wins prestigious Descartes prize

The European Social Survey (ESS) has won the prestigious Descartes prize, awarded by the European Commission for "excellence in scientific research". This is the first year that a social science project has won this prize. The ESS is a biennial multi-country survey, measuring and explaining trends in attitudes, beliefs and values across countries in Europe and its close neighbours. It is funded by the European Commission, the European Science Foundation, academic funding bodies and National Science Foundations in each participating country, and is designed and carried out to exceptionally high standards (Source: Economic and Social Data Service).

Slovene Center for public opinion and mass communication research is carrying out this survey as part of Slovene public opinion polls. Data are available upon registration through Norwegian Social Science Data Services, which are, with ADP, included in CESSDA group. For detailed information about access to data please contact ADP.
