  • European Values Study (EVS) 1999/2000 data available
    The third wave of the European Values Study was coordinated from Tilburg University by Loek Halman in close collaboration with the Zentralarchiv für Empirische Sozialforschung in Cologne (ZA) and the Netherlands Institute for Scientific Information Services (NIWI) in Amsterdam. As a result of this cooperation the CD-ROM "EVS 1999/2000" was developed. The CD-ROM contains the comprehensive stock of data, documents, and context information of the third wave of the EVS. In addition, complex searches and first analyses are supported through the integration of the data and documents in the ZA CodebookExplorer program.
  • European Social Survey (ESS) data available
    The European Social Survey (ESS) is a biennial multi-country survey covering over 20 nations. The first round was fielded in 2002/2003. The first data release from fifteen of the participating countries can now be accessed from the ESS data web site.

    Four codebooks of parallel voting surveys (SJM90-EN, SJM923-EN, SJM961-EN) with full wording of questionnaires in English were made with collaboration with the GESIS Branch Office for East Europe in Germany.

    European Young Investigator Awards (EURYI) /Closing date of the call: 30 November 2005

    The European Heads of Research Councils (EUROHORCS), wishing to contribute to the building of the European Research Area, joined in collaboration with the European Science Foundation (ESF) in creating the European Young Investigator Awards (EURYI) in 2003.     Please notice the recent release of "Central and Eastern Eurobarometer 1990-1997: Trends CEEB1-8" (ZA Study 3648) on CD-ROM. The CD includes the cumulative file and new processed versions of the single annual CEEB data sets. Navigation of documentation and data is supported by the ZA-Codebook-Explorer, which is also available on the CD-ROM. The CD-ROM can be ordered at the Central Archive by e-mail (to: moschner@za.uni-koeln.de or hausstein@berlin.iz-soz.de ) or via the WWW order form. Please notice that Eurobarometer data should be ordered via the Social Science Data Archives in the user's home countries, whenever possible.

    Information on the electoral systems in the process of democratisation in post-communist Europe is available in the Internet. This website is part of the dissemination strategy of a project based in the Department of Government at the University of Essex , UK. It includes an on-line database of election results and electorally-relevant laws from throughout Eastern Europe. The investigation will focus on twelve core countries (Bulgaria, the Czech Republic, Estonia, Hungary, Latvia, Lithuania, Moldova, Poland, Romania, Russia, Slovakia and Ukraine), but where available data for other post-communist states are provided. The Election Results section of the database includes results for parliamentary and presidential elections dating back to 1990 in each of the 12 countries, plus other information such as number of registered voters, turnout, votes cast, and total valid votes. Constituency level results of parliamentary elections from the Czech Republic, Hungary, Lithuania, Poland, Romania, Russia, Slovakia and Ukraine are also available.

    Special web sites on Election surveys provided by the Centre for the Study of Public Policy, U. Strathclyde Baltic Voices gives in detail the results of the five New Baltic Barometer surveys of public opinion in Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania conducted since 1993 by the Centre for the Study of Public Policy. This website gives the latest results of monthly surveys of Russian public opinion by the Levada Center. Under the leadership of Professor Yuri A. Levada, the Levada Center (formerly known as VCIOM Analytic Agency, VCIOM-A) continues the tradition of VCIOM, which was founded under his co-direction in 1987. This website gives an overview of Barometer surveys in: Africa, Asia, the New Europe and Latin America. It also gives links to organizers of Barometer surveys from Taipei to Cape Town.
